Melbourne football manager Chris Connolly has revealed the Demons approached Lions star Jonathan Brown about playing for them and were rejected.
Brown’s contract expires at the year’s end, resulting in talks about which Victorian club will be successful in luring him home.
Only the Magpies have offered the triple premiership player a concrete deal, but Connolly has confirmed that Melbourne have tried their chances.
Connolly said he is fine with Brown’s decision not to become a Demon, adding that the club just wanted to know exactly what their chances of bagging the triple premiership player were.
