With this seasons AFL draft ready to get underway there will be at most 78 boys taken. Considering many clubs have used a number of selections to promote rookies there will be many young men disappointed today given the hype around the draft. Around 3,000 boys have nominated for the draft including those boys from the last couple of years whose names remain on the list.
So reality will bite today for many young boys today who wont be given the opportunity to play in the AFL system. However there is always next year and those that miss out should start training even harder now in anticipation for this time next year when their name might be called in that group of 70- 80 players.
