North Melbourne on-baller Andrew Swallow has won his first Syd Barker Medal as the club’s best and fairest player for 2009.
Injury restricted Swallow to just three games in 2008 but he came out firing in 2009 and was rewarded for a stellar season as he gathered 487 votes, edging out defender Scott Thompson (477).
Vice-captain Brady Rawlings who has already won the award in 2004 and 2006, polled well again in 2009 with 476 votes.
Swallow played all 22 games in 2009 and was third in total disposals and first in tackles laid.
The Roos signed him up for two more years in August.
