The Age reports today that Kangaroos coach Dean Laidley has called on his players to show some character in Saturday night's clash against the Brisbane Lions after three consecutive losses.

A Michael Voss point on the siren last year sealed a memorable draw at the Telstra Dome and the Roos are hoping recent good form against the Lions can help inspire a special effort.

"We have done well over the years and last year . . . pretty well against Brisbane. We just have to make sure some character comes through this week.

"Individually, we have had some blokes in reasonable form. I just think we may have lost the chemistry mix for the group and . . . we just have to get that chemistry mix right."

For Laidley, getting the mix right means getting his "tall structure" right and deciding what to do with Drew Petrie, Corey McKernan, David Hale, Mark Porter and Saverio Rocca.
