The AFL will now keep an eye on the controversial chicken-wing tackle following an incident that left North Melbourne captain Brent Harvey with a serious injury.

Harvey is now set to miss up to 12 weeks after his left elbow was dislocated in a tackle involving Richmond tagger Daniel Jackson.

The NRL has stamped out the contentious tackle, as league players have been prone to ripping their opponent’s arms back, causing dislocated joints and torn pectoral muscles.

AFL football operations manager Adrian Anderson reviewed Jackson’s tackle on Harvey and saw nothing wrong with the technique.
