Taylor cleared of rough play

Hawks’ ruckman Simon Taylor has escaped suspension, by winning his challenge against a rough conduct charge at the AFL tribunal.
Taylor was found not guilty of engaging in rough conduct against Carlton’s Setanta O’hAilpin last Saturday despite pole-axing the Irishman 15 metres off the ball.
Taylor risked a three week suspension had he lost his challenge, but is now free to play Essendon on Friday night at Etihad Stadium.
While the video evidence looked damning for Taylor, the Hawks effectively argued the bump was designed to prevent O’hAilpin from taking part in the contest.
