Rumors that Hawk’s superstar Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin has broken the thumb that was operated on at the end of last season are supposedly false.

On Monday morning news was that ‘Buddy’ had defiantly broken his thumb, but Hawthorn’s general manager of football operations, Mark Evans, set the record straight.

Evans said that he did receive a heavy knock to his thumb on Monday morning and he was sent off for a scan just as a precaution but there was no serious damage obtained, meaning no ligament or bone injury.

Evans added that players receive these type of injuries all through the year but the media don’t bother with them...except if it’s ‘Buddy’.

Despite Franklin been declared fit, he won’t play in the NAB cup clash against the Demons in Launceston on the weekend.

There was talk Hawthorn were going to drop their conservative approach to playing Franklin in the NAB cup and pick him in the team for the weekend, but his latest finger scare has ended this speculation.

It seems Richmond fans aren’t the only ones waiting to splurge their endless love upon their star attraction.
