Hawthorn has defeated the Brisbane Lions by 69-points at Aurora Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Lance Franklin booted six goals for the Hawks and has 91 goals for the season so far as he races towards the magical 100 goal mark.
Star Hawk’s veteran, Shane Crawford playing in his 300th game for the club, was among the best players in his side as the Lions could only manage five goals for the game with the end score, Hawthorn, 16.14 (110) defeated Brisbane, 5.11 (41).
Hawthorn again have proven that they are Geelong’s main contenders for the 2008 premiership prize, as they move into second spot on the ladder.
Brisbane’s finals hopes are falling away, with their fifth loss from the past six games.
Both the sides struggled to score goals in the first half, but Franklin was the difference between the two teams, once setting up team-mate Cyril Rioli for a goal and then three minutes later scoring himself, the two goals turning the game Hawthorns way at the end of the second term.
Jonathan Brown kicked the first goal for the Lions in the first quarter, but unfortunately for the Lions their next goal came after the three quarter time siren through Jared Brennan.
The last quarter saw a wave of nine Hawthorn goals, three of those belonging to the freakish Franklin.
The 300th gamer, Crawford, wanted a goal in his milestone game and after his team-mates found him with the ball, he nervously squeezed through a major, resulting in his mates coming from all over the ground to shake his hand on a great career so far.
