Hawthorn president Jeff Kennett has been ordered by the AFL to complete an umpiring education program following his verbal attack on AFL umpires.
AFL football operations manager Adrian Anderson said Kennett’s comments were damaging to the best interests of the game.
As a result, Kennett must now watch the laws-of-the-game DVD, observe a game review by the umpiring department, read the AFL’s umpire effective communication notes, and observe the AFL’s instruction to umpires on effective use of the “MatchCom” communication system.
If Kennett fails to complete the program within a fortnight, his club will be hit with a $5000 fine.
