Hawks set to lose Rioli for two matches <?php echo($club_names[$seg3]); ?> Ball

Hawthorn’s Cyril Rioli’s charge of striking Adelaide Port’s Nick Salter and another of attempting to strike the same player at Football Park is sure to cost the star two games.

The Ball-like brain-snap was ruled by the AFL match review panel as one of a wild series of blows that connected.

While seemingly out character for Rioli, it was thought he was provoked after believing he copped a blow to the chin himself.

The ABC reports the panel ignored several more punches which missed their mark as a third-quarter scuffle erupted.

The striking charge was itself worth a one-match ban, while attempting to strike attracted only a reprimand, the ABC reported.

The Hawks could challenge either one of the charges unsuccessfully and still lose Rioli for only two games, which might make a tribunal bid worth the gamble.
