Hawthorn have dismissed suggestions their reigning Coleman Medallist Lance Franklin is overweight.
The Hawks said they were more than comfortable with Franklin’s fitness, but conceded he is now a bit heavier than last year.
Franklin is listed in the 2009 AFL Record as being 101kg, however Hawks captain Sam Mitchell revealed Franklin was 1.5kg heavier than that.
Hawthorn fitness and conditioning coach Andrew Russell said Franklin’s skin-fold measurements were at 2008 levels.
Interestingly, Franklin is well below last year’s numbers after round six, with the most obvious being goals - 30 to 18 - and shots at goal - 58 to 34.
