The Cats have overcome a brave Tigers side to win 15.15 (105) to 13.7 (85) at Skilled Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Richmond looked like pulling off a big upset when Joel Bowden booted a goal from the boundary line to put the Tigers a goal in front in the last quarter, Paul Chapman had other ideas however snapping a quick reply to even the scores.
From there it was all Geelong, who were led by the brilliance of Gary Ablett (29 disposals) at the clearances and Steve Johnson who stepped up to kick four typically classy Johnson goals, three of them coming in the last term.
The Tigers came out firing after half-time booting the first three goals of the quarter and by the time first gamer Tom Hislop put them in front with their eighth goal of the quarter, they found themselves leading Geelong by one point at the last change, with a big upset on the cards.
Geelong through the brilliance of their two match winners in Steve Johnson and Gary Ablett were able to use their experience over the young Tigers however, kicking the last four goals of the game.
It was a brave effort by the Tigers but Geelong were just too experienced in an entertaining game of footy.
