The Herald Sun reports that despite adopting a patient approach, Geelong remains no closer to securing the services of Gary Ablett's second son, Nathan.
Eighteen-year-old Nathan, who stands an imposing 194cm, has resisted invitations from the Cats to play with their VFL team.
After "retiring" from football at the end of last season, he returned three weeks ago with the Modewarre Warriors in the Bellarine League.
Named in the best for Modewarre in his first two games back, Ablett lined up at centre half-back on Saturday at Queens Park against ladder leaders Geelong Amateurs.
Playing on Rohan McSparron, who last season booted 102 goals for the Amateurs, Ablett began in sparkling form.
With socks down and a build that is solid enough despite being far from finished, Ablett saw plenty of the ball (four kicks, two marks, five handballs) as Amateurs slammed on 9.2 (56) to 1.0 (6) for the quarter.
