Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse says his side’s 27-point loss to Geelong last night showed the Magpies are no match for the premiership favourites.

The Magpies surrendered a 20-point lead at quarter-time, conceding eight goals to none in the second term. Collingwood kicked themselves out of the contest, with a shocker in front of goals, converting just 7.12 from set shots.

Compacting matters for Collingwood, defender Heath Shaw was reported for making contact with an umpire, while utility Ben Johnson suffered a broken leg.

Paul Chapman booted four goals and Steve Johnson three in the Cats’ 18.14 (122) to 13.17 (95) win.
