Geelong will miss in-form small forward Matthew Stokes for their clash with the Bombers on Sunday, after a one game ban for striking.

Even an early guilty plea couldn’t help Stokes due to his bad record at the tribunal over the past three years where he has been suspended for five games. The match review panel decided that he intentially punched Liam Picken behind play in the first quarter, in the Cats’ tense win over the Bulldogs on Friday night.

Stokes’ team-mate Jimmy Bartel will contest his tripping charge at the tribunal tonight and will only face a reprimand and 88 demerit points if he is found guilty.

Whilst Stokes will miss this weekends game, Cameron Mooney will be a welcome inclusion for the Cats after he himself served a one-week suspension for striking.
