Geelong has thrashed Collingwood by 76 points to win the NAB Cup at Docklands on Friday night.

The scoreboard was locked at the first change but things changed dramatically in the second term with the Cats booting six unanswered goals, resulting in a 40-point half time lead, as they went on to record a 0.18.19 (127) to 1.6.6 (51) victory.

Collingwood struggled to get their hands on the footy throughout the second and third terms, finally managing to kick their third goal in the 13-minute mark of the third quarter.

Rising star Joel Selwood won the Michael Tuck Medal as the best player on the ground, finishing with 33 touches and two goals for the game. Gary Ablett, who is the Brownlow medal favorite yet again for the up-coming season, also had a huge influence in the middle of the ground finishing with 35 disposals and three goals.

On a sour note for the Cats, premiership defender Josh Hunt was stretchered from the ground in the first term with an ACL injury to his left knee after a heavy collision with Magpie forward Paul Medhurst.

For Collingwood, Scott Pendlebury (14), Dane Swan (16) and Shannon Cox (17) all worked hard but lacked the support from their team-mates.

The Cats have sent a scary message to the competition, as we get ready for Round one of the regular season.
