Brownlow Medallist Jimmy Bartel has failed in his bid to escape a tripping charge at the AFL tribunal last night.

Bartel was found guilty of tripping the Bulldog’s Shaun Higgins in last Friday night’s thriller at Docklands.

The Cat’s star had 88 demerit points added to his record by the three member juryl, which is 12-points short of receiving a one-match suspension.

Bartel is still eligible for this year’s Brownlow Medal, but one more offence will cost him an immediate one-match suspension, meaning Bartel is on thin ice for the rest of the season.
