Geelong thump insipid Hawks

Hawthorn will be under more pressure this week after suffering an embarrassing 56-point loss to Geelong today.

An even more damning stat was the scoring shots - the Cats had 21 more scoring shots than the Hawks to show their total dominance.

Geelong's Riccardi named in Mothers' Day Hawks clash

Geelong veteran Peter Riccardi passed yesterdays fitness test and will play Hawthorn in Sunday's Mothers' Day match at the MCG.


Riccardi comes in for David Johnson which is the only change to the Cats line-up that punished the Crows last Sunday by 43 points.

Geelong lose ruckman for four weeks

Bomber Thompson ready for committed Hawks

Geelong coach Mark Thompson is expecting a committed Hawthorn side to face his young Cats side at Telstra Dome on Sunday.

Hawthorn are struggling with a record or 1-5.

Cats and Demons clash to stay at Skilled Stadium

Geelong chief executive Brian Cook is hopeful Geelong's next game at Skilled Stadium, against Melbourne in a fortnight, will be a sell-out, the Geelong Advertiser reports today.

The capacity will be increased to more than 23,000 for the clash with 800 seats to be removed from the northern terrace to allow for extra standing room.

Tenace round 6 AFL Rising Star

Being likened to Chris Judd and Bob Davis, Geelong youngster Kane Tenace is the AFL Rising Star for round 6.

At 18 years of age, Tenace debuted for the Cats in round 2 this year and is already averaging 12 possessions a game.

Trying conditions at Skilled Stadium in Geelong this afternoon made for a scrappy affair which eventually saw the Cats get over the line against Adelaide by a margin of 43 points.

Rooke axed from Cats

Jarad Rooke, who has played every game this season for the Cats, has been dropped from the Geelong side who are set to take on Adelaide at Skilled Stadium on Sunday.

As reported in the Geelong Advertiser, Rooke is the only player who has been axed from Geelong's side that lost to Fremantle last Sunday.
