Mr Dandalooa
Fremantle recruit Adam McPhee was lured back to Western Australia because of the possibility of playing in the midfield.
The 27-year-old, who commenced training with the Dockers at Santich Park, Munster on Monday December 7, said he believed he had at least five years of AFL footy left in him and was ready for a resurgence, indicating his performance had wavered at his former club Essendon.
The Dockers completed the deal on Tuesday and picked McPhee third in the 2010 NAB AFL Pre-Season Draft, offering the All-Australian an extended three-year contract that the Bombers refused to match.
They offered McPhee only two years.
McPhee said the extra year was a bonus but his decision to return to his former club centred on senior coach Mark Harvey’s offer to play him through the midfield.
He said being a star AFL player meant a “little bit of ego†was at play, but he would have to prove his worth to play through the midfield before his career was over.
McPhee said the thrill of footy was lost a little at Essendon, citing that his time at Freo now was a fresh start.
A recent upper-arm reconstruction has not deterred the versatile star, who said he would take a new approach into pre-season training with his midfield ambitions in the forefront of his mind.
McPhee debuted for the Dockers in 2001, playing 25 games over two seasons before being traded to Essendon, where he notched up 142 games.
