Fremantle Football Club senior coach Mark Harvey has named Roger Hayden and Luke McPharlin for this weekend’s round 20 match against Melbourne at the MCG.

Harvey said at a press conference that Luke McPharlin would be certain to return this week after missing three matches with a calf injury.

He is poised to play in the backline.

If McPharlin shows form and stays fit, he could play his 150th AFL game at Subiaco Oval against Essendon next week.

Hayden, who has only played a handful of games this season after a hamstring injury, is also set to return but will start on the bench.

Harvey said he would remain cautious with Hayden, who has been sidelined since round nine with a fractured fibula, but did name him on the extended interchange bench along with Michael Walters.

Byron Schammer, Marcus Drum, Brett Peake, Kepler Bradley and Clancee Pearce have also been named on the extended interchange.

The return of Hayden and McPharlin is more good news in a string of news for the club this week, after Steve Harris was named as the next Fremantle president to replace Rick Hart.

The outgoing Hart said the club has put the right processes in place to achieve premiership success, with Harris adding that he will deliver that elusive goal sooner rather than later.

Hart confirmed on Thursday that he will hand over the job to Harris on December 1, after eight years at the helm.
