Accused liar and former Eagles coach Mick Malthouse said he cannot wait for his Pies to battle it out with arguably the best team in the AFL so far this year, the Fremantle Dockers.
On the AFL’s website, Malthouse, who came under fire recently to making jibes to an opposition player and then allegedly lying about what he said to a media pack, said: “Bring on Fremantle.â€
The Collingwood coach made the comments after both sides won their sixth games of the season on Saturday night, the best start ever for the Dockers.
The Pies thrashed North Melbourne by 66 points at the MCG, and will travel to Subiaco this Friday to face an in-form Fremantle side which made history by defeating Brisbane at the Gabba.
It was the first time Fremantle had won on the road at the ground.
“We’re playing a very good football side…it’s been in the making for a few years,†Malthouse was reported as saying.
“Six and one is maybe surprising but … they are a highly competitive unit. To go over there, they obviously have their tail up. It’s a big test.â€
Despite media reports that Friday night’s game against Collingwood has sold out, the Fremantle Football Club said that there were still tickets available to the blockbuster clash.
More than 1,000 tickets are still available to the game which starts at 6.40pm on Friday 14 May at Subiaco Oval.
