Fremantle has eradicated the ‘cringe factor’ with their new young club but still fall short in basic footy skills, often missing targets and chest passes.

But they delivered on-edge football yesterday as forward Ryan Murphy kicked a goal with just six seconds remaining to give the Dockers a sensational 4-point victory over North Melbourne in their AFL pre-season cup quarter-final at Docklands.

Dockers wingman Stephen Hill was key playmaker in the win, after he won a loose ball inside the forward half and started the decisive play that sent Murphy a few short metres within the goal, ultimately kicking a major.

It made for good viewing as the Dockers won a thrilling 1.12.13 (94) to 0.13.12 (90) victory.

Fremantle led at every change, but the Kangaroos clawed their way back from 18 points down with a few minutes to play to take a two-point advantage.

But it wasn’t meant to be and the Dockers, without skipper Matthew Pavlich, earned themselves a semi-final spot.

Dockers forward Chris Mayne kicked 5 goals, while Hill was impressive with s 17 important touches.

The Dockers will play St Kilda at Docklands next Saturday night.
