Mr Dandalooa
So close, oh so close.
Fremantle came within a whisker of defeating Geelong yesterday in an impressive game at Subiaco Oval that showed glimpses of greatness for a young Dockers side.
Skipper Matthew Pavlich looked solid in his hybrid role, but not even his 31 possessions could be enough to get the Dockers over the line, eventually going down to the Cats by 19 points.
Some late easy misses on goal frustrated Fremantle which went into the fourth quarter tied at 61 points with Geelong.
Matt de Boer again played a good game despite a missed opportunity to score an easy major in the fourth quarter got him some angered looks from teammates.
Byron Schammer rated well as a player on the day but after showing signs of greatness, Schammer disappointed with a couple of poor kicks and terrible turnovers.
The Dockers pressured Geelong the whole game and maintained the intensity right throughout the match.
Greg Broughton did an excellent job pressuring Geelong’s Steve Johnson.
However, Fremantle will today find out the fate of defender Antoni Grover after he was reported for striking Geelong forward Johnson.
The clash, which occurred in the first quarter, is not though to have been caught on the television coverage of the game, however, it is believed that behind the goal vision picked it up.
If Grover does miss this Saturday’s clash with Collingwood at the MCG, the Dockers could be welcoming Des Headland back into the fold from a thigh strain.
