ESSENDON is counting the cost from yesterday’s nine-point loss to Sydney at the SCG, with David Hille and Angus Monfries expected to miss the next fortnight with hamstring injuries.

But in some good news, first-year player Jake Melksham is expected to be fit for this week’s clash with flag favourite Geelong after rolling his ankle in the same match.

Midfielder Brent Stanton is also a chance to return after withdrawing from yesterday’s match.

The Bombers (5-6) have dropped out of the top-eight following the defeat.
