Essendon announced this morning that experienced onballer Mark McVeigh will miss at least the first two matches of the season due to an ankle injury.
Scans show McVeigh suffered minor ligament damage to his ankle in the Bombers second round win against the Lions in the pre-season cup.
McVeigh’s ankle injury means he will be out for both the Port Adelaide and Fremantle games.
Scott Gumbleton is also unlikely to line up against Port Adelaide this Sunday as he awaits the results from his back scans.
Meanwhile Jobe Watson has fully recovered from the slight concussion he suffered against the Kangaroos.
