Essendon has suffered a major blow this morning during its intra-club match at Whitton Oval. Experienced defender Andrew Welsh, who was carried off the oval on a stretcher, has a suspected broken ankle. He is likely to miss the entire pre-season cup and may also miss the start of the season.
