Essendon ruckman Jason Laycock has had surgery on his foot after suffering several stress fractures on his foot during the pre-season.
Laycock had his best season last year as a back-up ruckman to David Hille but will be bitterly disappointed with his latest set-back , which has left him with an immobilised foot in a protective boot after his surgery.
According to coach Matthew Knights, Laycock’s injury means Tom Bellchambers will get his chance to show off his rucking skills.
