Experienced Essendon defender, Andrew Welsh, will be out of action for at least three months after he badly injured an ankle during the Bomber’s intra-club practice game at the Whitten Oval on Friday afternoon.
Welsh slipped while being tackled, resulting in a broken fibula bone in his right lower leg, a dislocated ankle, and ligament damage...a very unlucky day at the office.
Essendon are already lacking experienced players but Welsh’s injury leaves a big hole and for the second season in a year, it seems Matthew Knights will have to rely on raw youth, rather then rich experience.
