Round 7

Western Bulldogs v Essendon

The fourth overall pick in the 2003 National AFL draft and former Peel Thunder player, Farren Ray, will make his AFL debut for the Western Bulldogs on Friday night when they take on league heavy weights Essendon. Jordan McMahon has been omitted.

Essendon have dropped veteran player Mark Mercuri and young midfielder Brent Stanton has also been omitted from the side to make way for Jobe Watson, who will play only his second game this season, and Marc Bullen.

Carlton v Collingwood

Star Carlton player Anthony Koutoufides may actually play his first game of the season this week after being named at centre half-back in a potentially tantalising match-up with Anthony Rocca. Senior Carlton player Darren Hulme will return to the side while Jonathon McCormick and Trent Sporn have been omitted after last weeks record breaking thrashing at the hands of Melbourne.

Collingwood welcome back their two big guns in Brownlow medallist Nathan Buckley and full-forward Chris Tarrant after both have missed the last three weeks through injury.

Unfortunately for the Pies they have lost another senior player with an injury Scott Burns, who has an injured hamstring. Simon Prestigiacomo and Cameron Cloke will also miss the game through injury while former Claremont player Tristen Walker has been included in the 22.
