DUAL premiership midfielder Brent Cowell has given East Perth’s finals aspirations a major boost after deciding to play on for the 2010 season.

Cowell (30) had initially asked club officials if he could take a break from football, but following a meeting with coach Tony Micale, opted to stay on.

His decision was no doubt spurred on after his side downed Subiaco by 39-points in the Variety Challenge pre-season match at Medibank Stadium last Friday.

Cowell won East Perth’s best-and- fairest award in 2003, has played 147 games and will receive life membership this year.

A rookie-list member with Geelong in 2000, Cowell played in the Royals grand final triumphs in 2001 and 2002.

MEANWHILE East Fremantle has recruited two players from Nightcliff in the Northern Territory Football League.

Club champion Thomas Motlop and runner-up Jayden Kickett have been picked up by the Sharks, after an impressive season with bottom rung Nightcliff.

The Darwin pair will join another high-profile recruit, former Collingwood and St Kilda midfielder Mark McGough at the Sharks.
