Micale lays down the law

HIGHLY regarded recruits David Wirrpanda, Andrew Lovett and Jason Roe will not be playing another game for East Perth this season, as league coach Tony Micale looks to reward his current group of players after their recent form reversal.
The Royals’ late charge towards September gathered more momentum following two 100-point plus wins in as many weeks, this time at the expense of cellar dweller Peel at Bendigo Bank Stadium yesterday.
But Micale said Wirrpanda, who played just two matches at the start of the season before taking part in Chanell Seven’s Dancing with the Stars, would not be a part of the Royals’ make-up.
The same goes for Lovett, who has played just four games, and is unlikely to return from Melbourne as he deals with a personal matter, as well as a raft of legal challenges over an alleged sexual assault.
Roe suffered a knee injury early on, and the moment it is understood East Perth officials are unhappy with his work ethic since his recovery and believe a player such as Luke Sampey offers a more reliable option in defence.
“We wouldn’t replace any of the guys who have got us to this stage and we wouldn’t entertain bringing them in at this stage of the year,” Micale said.
“It has been my aim to rebuild the club around local players and that is working well at the moment.”
