EAST FREMANTLE v PEEL THUNDER @ EAST FREMANTLE OVAL
After a thrilling two-point win over South Fremantle last Saturday, Peel has an opportunity to do the double over the Fremantle sides and keep the pressure on the top four when they travel to East Fremantle Oval to take on the Sharks this Saturday.
With key men Zac Beeck and Hayden Ballantyne in good touch the Thunder will go in to this match with some confidence against an East Fremantle team that slipped back to last following last week’s loss to Subiaco.
However with Jamie McNamara and Brent Staker being dropped back to East Fremantle it may just give the home side a slight edge in what should be a fascinating contest.
Prediction: Sharks by 5 points.
West Perth v South Fremantle @ Arena Joondalup
A place in the top four is up for grabs when the Falcons host the Bulldogs at Arena Joondalup on Saturday.
Despite having last weekend off West Perth was one of the big winners of the round with Perth and South Fremantle both being defeated and with Mark Seaby and Kepler Bradley back in their line-up they should be favoured to slip past the Bulldogs this week.
South Fremantle’s forward line looks considerably less potent without key forward Ryan Murphy, however the Bulldogs still managed 19 goals in a losing effort against the Thunder.
Prediction: Falcons by 17 points.
Swan Districts v Subiaco @ Steel Blue Oval
It’s one versus two on the ladder at Steel Blue Oval this Saturday as the all-conquering Subiaco travel to take on Swan Districts.
Despite the narrow difference in ladder positions the Lions are four games and about 100% ahead of Swans and there appears to be a gulf between the two sides.
Swan Districts were good enough to dispose of Claremont last Sunday but will lose key forward Ash Hansen for this vital clash.
Prediction: Lions by 48 points.
East Perth v Claremont
Both teams will be eyeing off a rare 2008 victory when East Perth tackle Claremont at Medibank Stadium on Saturday.
The Royals will enter the match with renewed confidence following their gutsy eight-point win over Perth last Saturday while the Tigers were equally as determined in their tough loss to Swan Districts last Sunday.
Claremont will be strengthened by the return of Sandover Medallists Anthony Jones and Jaxon Crabb as well as Eagle Beau Waters as they strive for their first win since they last met East Perth just over two months ago.
Prediction: Tigers by 21 points.
