Former West Coast and Kangaroos utility Kasey Green will captain WAFL club East Fremantle in 2008.
The 28-year-old who played for the Sharks before being elevated to the Eagles’ senior list in 2000, had an unceremonious end to his AFL career in 2007 after copping a two-match suspension during the finals series.
He returned to the Kangaroos’ side for their preliminary final against Port Adelaide, but managed just ten disposals in the match after averaging more than 16 touches a game from Round 13-22.
Green played 93 AFL games in total including the 2005 Grand Final for the Eagles.
He replaces Shane Woewodin as Sharks’ skipper with the 2000 Brownlow medallist taking the senior coaching reins from David Dunbar in 2008.
The Sharks will play Swan Districts in their opening preseason match at Medibank Stadium on Saturday night.
