East Fremantle v Sourth Fremantle Match Report

South Fremantle has continued their recent dominance at the home of their arch-rivals with a comfortable 79-point victory over East Fremantle on Saturday.
Dashing midfielder Paul Duffield put his hand up for a Fremantle recall with a dynamic display as the Bulldogs controlled the match from the opening bounce, winning 22.10 (142) to 8.15 (63).
Duffield collected 31 possessions and finished with four goals in a best-on-ground performance which must have caught the eye of the Fremantle match committee.
He was well supported by a trio of running defenders in Craig White (29 disposals, 24 of which came in the first half), Hayden North (27) and Josh Head (24) who launched countless attacks from the defensive half of the ground and ensured that South Fremantle’s 11th consecutive victory at East Fremantle Oval was never in doubt.
The Bulldogs kicked 11 of the first 12 goals of the match before the Sharks stemmed the flow during the middle stages of the contest.
Leading the way for the home side was skipper Kasey Green (31 possessions), while former Bulldog Theo Adams worked hard throughout the match.
Former Carlton forward Josh Kennedy returned to play just his seventh match for the Sharks and improved as the match wore on, finishing with three goals and ten marks.
East Fremantle’s day started badly when key position player Keaton McRobb was taken off the ground on a stretcher in the opening minutes of the game with what appeared to be a serious knee injury.
Sharks’ coach Shane Woewodin would be concerned with his team’s start to the season with losses to Perth and South Fremantle and it won’t get any easier next week with a clash against Subiaco at East Fremantle Oval next Sunday.
The victory for South Fremantle was a significant response to their first round defeat at the hands of reigning premiers Subiaco and they now host Peel next under lights at Fremantle Oval next Friday night.
