The Herald Sun reports that Collingwood's Tarkyn Lockyer is hoping for a swift return to senior football after emerging unscathed in his comeback from injury with Williamstown yesterday.

It was Lockyer's first game in more than a year after recovering from a knee reconstruction and foot stress fractures.

Rotated off the bench, Lockyer played more than half of yesterday's game, in which Port Melbourne defeated the Seagulls by 49 points at TEAC Oval.

But it was a modest return for the blond midfielder, whose first kick strayed out of bounds on the full.

He finished the match with 17 possessions but had little impact on the game.

Lockyer suffered a season-ending knee injury against Geelong in April last year and his comeback stalled when he broke his foot in a VFL practice match in March.

Feeling no effects from his foot injury, Lockyer was yesterday thankful to come through the game.

"It was just good to get through. Having missed about 13 months of footy you always wonder a little bit what it's going to be like," Lockyer said.
