New Collingwood skipper Nick Maxwell has been banned for three games, after pleading guilty to a head-high hit from the Magpies first pre-season game against West Coast on Saturday.
The Magpie camp is likely to challenge the ban, but if they failed Maxwell will miss four games.
Maxwell managed to break West Coast fresh-man, Patrick McGinnity’s jaw in the dangerous collision. McGinnity is set to miss up to two months of football.
The Magpie skipper who is yet to captain the side in a regular home and away game will miss four games regardless of whether it’s in the NAB Cup or home and away season.
So if Collingwood were to get knocked out of the NAB cup in their next game then Maxwell would miss the first three games of the regular season.
