Collingwood has appointed Nathan Buckley as assistant coach to Mick Malthouse and guaranteed him the head coaches position from 2012. Malthouse will then be appointed to the newly created position of director of coaching.
Buckley has no senior coaching experience and it a sign of how much faith Collingwood has in their favourite son that they are willing to create a succession plan for an untried coach.
