Carlton have been dealt a major blow with star Jarrad Waite needing a full knee reconstruction, affectively ending his season.

Waite tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee against the Crows on Saturday. He has since had surgery on Tuesday, where he was advised to have a full reconstruction.

The Blues now sit outside the top eight after a bad loss to the Crows, which means Waite’s injury is a tragedy for them as he provides his team with a range of key position options.

Coach Brett Ratten said that Waite is one of those players that plays all over the ground and is someone that provides the Blues with an X-factor.
