THE Western Bulldogs have welcomed the announcement of Julia Gillard as Australia’s first female Prime Minister.
Ms Gillard, a Dogs fan, has been a strong supporter of the club in recent times.
“The club is very proud to be associated with such a significant moment in our national history,†Western Bulldogs chief executive officer Campbell Rose said in a statement.
“Ms Gillard’s achievement is recognition for her tireless work within the western suburbs of Melbourne and we believe that Julia will make an outstanding Prime Minister. Julia is a brilliant leader and will represent the people of our country well.
“We appreciate Julia’s continued support and wish her all the best with what is sure to be a challenging, yet exciting, period ahead.â€
