The Western Bulldogs are at risk of losing prolific ball winner, Daniel Cross for the start of their finals campaign due to an ankle injury he received in the loss to the Eagles on Saturday.

Cross was booked in for exploratory surgery on his ankle on Monday night with the Bulldogs uncertain on exactly how many games he’d miss.

Their last three games of the regular season are against Brisbane, Geelong and the Magpies which will now be an even bigger challenge with-out Cross who is their second-best ball-winner behind Matthew Boyd and perhaps more importantly provides them with a strong tackling presence, leading the list with 84 tackles for the season.
