Western Bulldogs’ talented defender Tom Williams seems unlikely to play again this year.

Williams is suffering with a quadricep injury meaning he won’t be the man to take on Lance Franklin in the qualifying final against the Hawks.

On Tuesday night, the Bulldogs football manager Jame Fantasia said Williams’ exact state of health would be known on Wednesday.

The plan was for Williams to play against Adelaide this weekend to prepare him to take on Franklin in the opening final at the MCG.
He has showed enough abiltity to succeed as a key AFL defender, with star team-mate Jason Akermanis saying he has the potential to be an All-Australian within the next two years.
