WESTERN Bulldogs president David Smorgon said today Jason Akermanis had lost the support of the playing group in the lead-up to yesterday’s axing.
Not one player believed the club should retain Akermanis, as reported by the Herald Sun.
“That was the unanimous view of every player on the list, that they did not want Jason,†Smorgon said on SEN radio in Melbourne.
“That coincided with the view of the match committee, and that coincided with the view of James Fantasia and the administration, and the board ratified that yesterday.
“Every sector of the club was unanimous in making this decision.â€
Akermanis said on Melbourne Talk Radio today that he wants “proof†of his wrongful actions from his ex-club.
