West Coast has given permission to Michael Voss to talk with his former club about the option of becoming the Lions’ head coach, following the retirement of Leigh Matthews.

The three times Premiership captain signed a two-year contract in July this year to be an assistant coach under John Worsfold at West Coast.

The Contract however has a get-out clause if a head coaching job becomes available at another club.

West Coast Chief Executive Trevor Nisbett said he would like Voss to stay with the Eagles but said the the club would not stand in the way of Voss if he wanted to coach at Brisbane.

Matthews shocked the football world by announcing his retirement a year before his contract expired.
