Brisbane Lion defender Joel McDonald has requested to be traded to a Melbourne club.
McDonald played every game of the home-and-away season before been dropped for the club’s two finals games in September and is also said to be leaving because of salary cap pressures.
A back injury kept the 25-year-old out of the thrilling come-from-behind win over Carlton in the elimination final and he wasn’t recalled for the team’s semi-final loss to the Bulldogs.
Rumors are that the Lions are looking to use McDonald to land Brendan Fevola or Essendon’s Andrew Lovett when trade week starts on Monday.
