THERE could be one positive from what is turning into a bleak season for the Brisbane Lions.

The Lions now boast three in the running for this season’s Rising Star award after Jack Redden earned the Round 15 nomination.

Redden managed 22 disposals in the Lions loss to St.Kilda last Saturday night, and he joins teammates Todd Banfield and Tom Rockliff as nominees.

The Lions have lost 10 of their past 11 matches, but it has given the club a chance to provide their younger generation with opportunities in the senior team.

At season’s end, all nominations will be in the running for this year’s Rising Star award.

To be eligible for the award, a player must be under 21 on January 1 of 2010.

They also must have played 10 or fewer senior games before the beginning of 2010, and not be suspended during the season.

Nominations so far:
Round 1: Chris Yarran (Carlton)
Round 2: Daniel Hannebery (Sydney)
Round 3: Ryan Bastinac (North Melbourne)
Round 4: Nic Naitanui (West Coast)
Round 5: Jack Trengove (Melbourne)
Round 6: Todd Banfield (Brisbane Lions)
Round 7: Tom Scully (Melbourne)
Round 8: Jake Melksham (Essendon)
Round 9: Nathan Fyfe (Fremantle)
