The Brisbane Lions have defeated Eagles by nine points in a thrilling contest at the Gabba on Saturday night.
Brisbane came back from a 32-point deficit in the first half thanks to a thirteen goal second half, as the Eagles couldn’t keep up their intensity, with the scoreboard reading, Brisbane - 14.11 (95) to Eagles 13.8 (86).
Travis Johnston (37 touches) was superb for the Lions with his penetrating run from half back, gaining support from Luke Power (34 touches) and slippery forward Ryan Hooper (four goals).
For the Eagles Mark Lecras was excellent finishing with six goals, whilst Matthew Priddis worked hard in the clearances and David Wirrapanda showed off his sublime skills yet again.
Debut coach Michael Voss will be happy with his young Lions, whilst John Worsfold will be disappointed that the Eagles let a winning position slip away from them but will be proud of their brave effort.
Both sides are packed full of future stars of the game and are a force to be reckoned with this season.
