Former St Kilda star Luke Ball faces an uphill battle to fulfill his goal of being picked up by the Magpies, as Brisbane Lions coach Michael Voss has confirmed that they would attempt to Recruit Ball, whether he wanted to join the club or not.
Voss explained to the Sunday Age that Ball was very much in their plans and although he respected the fact that players had their own plan in mind, it was his job to do what was best for his footy club, which meant that if Ball was available then he’d do what was best for the Lions.
Voss added that he’d be consulting his recruiting personnel, who were to report back to him with more information on the Ball situation in the near future.
There are several clubs who could select Ball in the national draft, of which one of them is Melbourne, who have four picks of the first 18. So it seems should Melbourne ignore Ball, then the Lions would be the main contender for his much valued services.
