Merv Neagle, the former Essendon star player and father of current Essendon player, Jay. has been appointed to take over the reins as Senior Coach with St. Marys in the NTFL. Neagle replaces premiership mentor, Brett Hand who has moved to the NTIS AFL role and will coach the NT under age teams from 2009 onwards. Neagle has a good record in country Victoria and NSW in bringing teams up from the bottom of the ladder to be competitive. With Saint Marys he will be in charge of one of the NTFL powerhouses, a club which won the Seniors, Reserves, Womens and U16’s flags in the 2007/08 season. Saints started the new season off brilliantly with a demolition job of Palmerston Magpies last night at TIO Stadium. Full details and scores of the other NTFL games will be up soon.
