Roos not jumping for joy over new rule

Sydney Swans coach Paul Roos is not a big fan of the new deliberately rushed behind rule and wants the AFL to postpone the rule for another season.

The new rule has been trialled in this year’s NAB Cup and involves a free kick been awarded against any player who deliberately rushes a behind.

Roos said on Tuesday that the new rule was an extreme reaction to last season’s Grand final when the Hawks controversially rushed 11 behinds in their win against the Cats.

Roos added that the AFl should trial the rule again next season and see what happens with the rushed behinds this season. He said creating a new rule after the events of one game shouldn’t happen.
