ADELAIDE onballer Brad Symes has joined a long list of players in doubt for the club’s season opener against Fremantle, after he was booked in for a third operation on his left knee.
Symes had arthroscopic surgery on the knee following his side’s semi-final loss to Collingwood last season.
The 24-year-old was eased back into full training but was forced to go to have further surgery in December when he experienced more discomfort.
He was expected to be sidelined for just four weeks but has subsequently failed to resume full training after three months post-op, prompting the decision for another round of surgery later this week.
The Crows could also be without forward trio Jason Porplyzia (pelvic/back complaint), Chris Knights (foot) and Brett Burton (left knee)
Club champion Bernie Vince (hamstring) was withdrawn from their latest pre-season match in Alice Springs and won’t play next weekend either.
The Crows meet Melbourne in the outer northern Adelaide suburb of Elizabeth on Saturday afternoon.
